AI Use Rules
These rules apply whenever you use AI access provided by theDepartment of Mathematics: the gateway keyyou use with Claude Code and Codex, the departmentalgateway chat atmath.colorado.edu/ai, and any subscriptions the department provides. (Campus-wide services such as ChatGPT Edu and Gemini through CU are separate, with their own terms.) Read them before you use any of these; they are short.
- Your usage is not private. Do not submit any confidential or protected information.
- If you use a web interface that maintains a record of your chats, we recommend deleting them when they are no longer needed.
- Do not enable sharing, model-improvement programs, connectors, plug-ins, or third-party integrations.
What this means in practice for the coding tools: anything Claude Code or Codex sends through the gateway — your prompts, and whatever code and files it reads — goes to the AI providers, exactly as a chat message would. Keep personal data, other people's unpublished work, and anything you are not free to share out of the Codespace you point them at. The set-up guide has the details of the gateway.
